AUD/USD: choppy but move down a possibility
The aussie wouldn’t be my first choice to trade as price action has been been too choppy of late. Nevertheless, the down-trend is still dominant and there is a possibility of a continuation (even if the MACD and Chaikin Money Flow are converging acutely and bullishly).
On the chart below I have drawn the upper and lower range boundaries in of a sort of ‘flag’ pattern in light blue. This pattern eventually broke to the downside and temporarily breached the key historic lows at 0.8650, however, it reversed abruptly, pulling all the way back up to ‘kiss’ the underside of the consolidation range, forming an a-b-c correction – visible on 4-hr chart – in the process.
No the a-b-c has ended there is a possibility of a recapitulation and the start of another slide lower. I would urge caution and conservative money management, however, as the pair has been very choppy of late; nevertheless, a move below 0.8641 would confirm downside to 0.8589; a further move below 0.8584 would lead to a run down to the 0.8539 lows.
